Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By checking the acceptance box when you create an account, or by using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. We record which version you accepted and when, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.

3. Your account

You are responsible for your account and for everything done under it. Keep your sign-in credentials secure, give us accurate account information, and tell us promptly at support@statementlock.com if you believe someone has used your account without permission.

4. The Service

StatementLock helps you analyze and categorize personal bank and credit card statements and generate reports. It does not currently analyze brokerage or investment statements, and it declines statements it identifies as one. That check can occasionally decline an ordinary statement by mistake. Features and availability may change over time.

5. Subscriptions, free trial and billing

Plans. The Monthly plan is $5.99 per month. The Annual plan is $47.88 per year.

Free trial. New accounts get a 30-day free trial that includes 10 statement analyses and 2 AI reports. No payment method is collected for the trial. When the trial ends, the app stops until you subscribe. Your statements, analyses and reports stay in your folder on your computer, unchanged, and they’re all there in the app again when you subscribe.

Billing. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card number. If we change prices, we will give you reasonable notice before the change applies to your next renewal.

Cancellation. You can cancel anytime by emailing support@statementlock.com, or through the billing page in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

6. Refunds

Monthly payments are non-refundable. If you are on the Annual plan, you can request a full refund within 14 days of a yearly charge by emailing support@statementlock.com.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
• upload statements or data you do not have the right to use;
• probe, overload or disrupt the Service;
• resell the Service or share your account access with others.

8. Licence to use the Service

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service for your personal use. You may not copy, resell, sublicense, scrape, reverse engineer, or access the Service by automated means, except as the law allows notwithstanding this clause. Makerlow LLC owns the Service and its software. You own your statements, and everything the Service produces from them in your folder is yours.

9. Your data and content

You own your statements and your data. You grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. To read a statement, the Service sends it in full to our AI provider, as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. AI-generated results

The figures read from your statements, fraud and anomaly flags, and reports are produced by AI. Categories are assigned by automated rules. These results may be inaccurate, incomplete or outdated. You are responsible for verifying them against your original statements before relying on them.

11. Not financial advice

The Service does not provide financial, legal, tax, accounting or investment advice. Nothing it produces is a recommendation to take or avoid any financial action.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Fraud and anomaly detection may not catch every anomaly, and may flag things that are not anomalies.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Makerlow LLC from claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

15. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Anthropic, Clerk, Stripe, Supabase, Resend and Vercel. Their portions of the Service are governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

16. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that harms it or others. You may stop using the Service at any time, and you can delete your account as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 9, 12, 13, 14 and 17) survive it.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is material we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies to you. Using the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
